Samsung Solar Powered Cellphone

Samsun has recently unveiled its newest handset called Blue Earth. It is a cellphone that is very different from the rest as it is deemed “eco-friendly”. The body or PCM is made from recycled water bottles, for one thing. For another thing, the phone carries an eco mode, meaning usage is minimized and efficient. Screen brighness and backlights do not use the maximum energy, as well as Bluetooth usage. The phone even has a built in pedometer to indicate CO2 emission.
And the most environmentally efficient use? The phone is equipped with a solar panel on the back portion, which enables the phone to be sufficiently charged when you’re outside. Using solar energy, you can make calls anytime and not have to worry about the battery dying, as long as the sun is bright and shiny.
The phone’s price has not yet been announced. But environmentalist should be on the lookout for this by mid-2009 when it is released. And then we’ll know for sure just how effective it is when running its operating system using the kind of energy it is supposedly going to work on.
