Who says video games aren’t educational? Did you know that the Nintendo DS is also meant to be an e-reader? A gadget where you can download or set up and read your favorite literary stories?
On December 26th, the first set of e-books for the Nintendo DS will go on sale in the UK. The e-book will contain well loved classics from authors like Austen, Dickens and Shakespeare and 100 more stories .
Product features:
# Adjust text to small or large size to suit your reading preference
# Search for books that match your mood or time constraints
# Bookmark feature allows you to save your place in a book
# Download 10 additional books through Nintendo Wi-Fi connection
I love this idea. I mean, it’s no secret kids today aren’t fond of reading. They would rather play with their gadgets.
And while this isn’t “reading” in every sense of the word (as in you know, turning the book pages instead of scrolling down), it’s still a great idea for encouraging kids to go old school and absorb stories from literary classics. At least, some of the greater things in life are still not lost on them even as they’ve embraced technology like second skin.
