Robot Fashion for the geeky woman!

Published by Rachel under Fashion Edit This

I wouldn’t consider robots as fashionable nor adorable, except maybe in those animated films. But for something I could wear? Hmmm…I can’t imagine it. When I see robots, my mind immediately tells me it’s only fit for geeky boys.

But not when designed this way. It’s definitely changed my mind. So cute aren’t they? And so sexy, too! I especially love the bands on the undies. They made it extra sexy.

The underwear pair round up to something like $15 - bra thong. The tank top is sold for under $8.

Would you consider wearing this?

Sony S-Series: The Walkman of My Generation Gets An Upgrade!

The old Sony Walkman was our iPod growing up. Kids carried this around school hoping to look as cool as the Brat Pack from the movies no matter how bulky it was. My own bulky Sony Walkman is still working even today. My 10 year old found it recently and wondered what the crude gadget was for.

I no longer carry a big walkman around (nor do I carry an iPod) but when I saw that this is how a Sony Walkman looks today, I was very impressed.

Sony Walkman

It’s no longer bulky! And it’s digitized (of course!)… you can play music and videos from iTunes. The Sony Walkman S-Series supports many types of format, including Windows Media Video. It’s also equipped with noise-canceling earbuds.

The gadget comes in 4gb and 8gb, with affordable rates (compared to other brands) at under $150 and $180.

With Christmas fast approaching, we’re thinking of the best gift to give our growing tweener who has been displaying a keen interest in the arts. I’m sensing he’d be inclined to try out photography and will probably enjoy his very own digital camera. Only there are a lot to choose from and I don’t know which one to get!

Canon has recently launched a camera specifically targeting the teen (and tween) market, making our choices so much easier.

  • DIGIC III Image Processor with Genuine Canon Face Detection AF/AE/FE/WB sets the focus, exposure, flash and white balance automatically so you always capture the perfect face.

Nothing says “this is a girly gadget” than a scented gadget. I wouldn’t think they’d do these for electronics but, apparently, I’m so mistaken.

How To Sell Used Gadgets On Ebay

Thinking of unloading your unused gadgets on Ebay? It isn’t as simple as taking a photo of it and putting it up for bid online. You’ve got to prepare the boxes, manuals and everything else that comes with the gadget the first time you’ve bought it (that’s why you don’t throw those away!). And you’ve got to clean the gadget, too. These are things I learned from my very own husband, who is a gadget freak, and who has sold quite a few of his old gadgets online. Suffice to say, we’ve got a cabinet with stacks of old boxes, manuals and accessories specifically for things like this.

Cat Schwartz, Ebay’s gadget and toys director has put together a video how-to guide to reselling your old gadgets and her tip is actually similar to my husband’s. Watch:

Big savings at JustTheDisc, CDs and DVDs at $2.99

Published by Rachel under Cool Sites Edit This

Just The Disc is a big discount store for CDs and DVDs that offer at really low cost. For only $2.99 to $3.99, you could get a copy of your favorite movie or TV series on DVD; or a CD album of your most loved artists. The reason why the discs are so affordable is because you will literally get “just the disc”, without the jewel or keep cases, without even the cover art.

Just The DiscThis services is good for those who have lost the discs from their collection or are only looking to get the disc and store them in a different container. I know of some people who literally throw the cases away, and keep their disc in a neat file or storage they have customized.

Just The Disc uses Paypal as its premiere payment service. They currently have a library of 200,000 disc for both music and movies/TV.

Easy does it laundry for the bachelorette pad

Published by Rachel under Home Gadgets Edit This

Young, single, happening gals — with all the exciting things going on in your life, do you even have the luxury of doing the laundry? It’s been ages since I was last on my own, but if I were? I may have piles and piles of laundry waiting to be washed. It would probably be the least of my priorities, with all the many things I want to try and plenty of goals to achieve. I may even consider going to the laundry shop an arduous task, wishing someone else can do it for me.

If I still was a single, happening gal, I may need a washing machine like this:

iBasket Laundry

A finalist in the recent Electrolux’s 2008 Design Lab contest, this is the iBasket, a chic laundry hamper that also works as a washing machine. Guopeng Liang from China designed this one and it’s also computer controlled. The iBasket does washing with cold water (which probably means there is a water inlet there somewhere). It also flushes and dissipates air so the clothes don’t smell when it is piling up. Once done, this machine has a wifi link which you can pre-program to let you know when its work is done and you can take your clean clothes off the hamper now.

The iBasket is made of engineered plastic, acrylic glass and recycled aluminum. It’s a pretty useful tool to have around the bachelorette (or bachelor) pad.

I look at the pile of laundry I have to do right now and I’m wishing I have ten of these!

This is how earphones should be made!

I make use of earphones a lot when I’m on the computer. It’s because we have three workstations in the house and mine is the nosiest. I watch a lot of videos and listen to music all the time that I can’t be disturbing the other two who are working on theirs.

Right now, I’m using a discarded earphone from a cellphone kit I no longer use. And it’s not the best thing in the world. I think I have broken down at least seven earphones in the last two years. mostly because I’d accidentally step on them when I get up my seat. Don’t ask me how that happens anymore. But the point is, I can never seem to set my earphones aside properly.

This concept by Asian designer Yoonsang Kim is what I really need. The earphone fits snuggly enough, and when not in use? I can just hang it around my neck like a necklace. Isn’t that wonderful? Too bad it’s still a concept and is not yet in the market. I’d love to have this!
