A TV Fan’s iPod

Amazing Race iPod NanoAre you a TV junkie who can’t live without her iPod?

If you are, CBS Store is offering these limited edition iPod merchandise (the Nano, Shuffle, Touch or Classic), with special engravings of logos and graphic art of your favorite CBS TV  Shows. If you want, you can even have your name engraved on it.

They have several designs for television shows like the CSI franchise, Ghost Whisperer, Survivor and my favorite, The Amazing Race (as pictured). They even have one for Beverly Hills 90210, the only canceled show that’s in their limited edition line-up. And I’m guessing they’ve put this up since 90210 seems to be so IN right now, what with the updated version debuting in September.

Since its the limited edition, only about two thousand or so of this is available. And these are a bit pricey, too.

I wonder if they’ve bundled special episodes of the show, theme songs and soundtracks for this? Wouldn’t that be nice?

Flock Browser Exclusively for the Ladies

Published by Rachel under Cool Sites Edit This

I’ve been using the basic Flock Browser for quite awhile now and I’m really, really loving all of its features. Flock prides itself in being the most functional social network browser and I have to say that it lives up to its promise. I have integrated most of my browsing activities on the browser — facebook, multiply, flickr, twitter, feeds subscriptions and usual bookmarks — which literally means I have all I need in just a click away.

When using Flock, people can easily discover, access, create and share videos, photos, blogs, feeds and comments across social communities, media providers, and popular websites.

The other week, Flock came out with this special all-pink browser that’s geared for its Fashionista and Entertainment hungry users: The Gloss Edition

Flock Gloss Edition

This browser bundles the best online resources for fashion, celebrity gossip and and lifestyle trends. Those are the ones I love to search online but I’m not sure if I have to switch from regular Flock to this one. I’m considering it though.

How about you, have you had the chance to try Flock? If not, then go try it now and tell me how much you love it. They also have an Eco Edition .

This new search engine is Cuil (Cool!)

Published by Rachel under Cool Sites Edit This

Cuil Search Engine

Is this the search engine that will finally topple down all mighty Google?

Pronounced as “cool”, Cuil, is Irish for “knowledge” and is currently one of the top stories in the internet this week.

The service boasts of being able to produce three times the result of Google’s index and uses a method far different from Google’s ranking of websites. Cuil finds results based on content and groups these in categories. These results are then displayed in a magazine format (love it!), which may include photos and sidebars. Cuil believes that finding what you’re looking for is faster this way.

And since the concept of Cuil is actually an idea hatched by the very person who also started the Google search engine, Anna Patterson, then she knows what she’s talking about and why they are doing this.

I gave Cuil a try and was pleased to discover my sites are already indexed. But the system is a bit slow, and I am not used to a slow search engine. Also, while searching for “Pushing Daisies” for instance (a favorite TV Show of mine), I got this instead:

No results because of high load…

Due to excessive load, our servers didn’t return results. Please try your search again.

I guess Cuil is still far from perfect but so far I’m liking what I see.

Read more about Cuil here.

And thanks to stormy for posting a link of this news in the Today Forum.

Faux Windows for Small Apartments

Published by Rachel under Home Gadgets Edit This

Like most apartments dwellers, there isn’t an abundance of rooms with views. Instead, you find a lot of bare wells with hardly a window in it.  If you live in such a place, then you’d understand how much it means to get creative in your little apartment. And you’ll also appreciate things or services like this faux windows from Affordable Views.

It basically serves a double purpose — extra cabinet space and a decorative piece on your bare wall. You can even customize it with your own preferred photo or  install blinds, lights or curtains to make it more interesting.

Constructed using top quality wood, the faux window is also ideal for office spaces, boring basements, medical clinics — just about any room that needs that extra lift.

Here’s a video of how it works:

SoleMates…Your high heel’s best friend

Published by Rachel under Fashion Edit This

SoleMates High Heel Protector

Fortunately, my lifestyle does not require a lot of glamorous dressing up with high heels. But I know how much an inconvenience wearing heels sometimes becomes especially if you live in an area where it rains most of the time and you’re usually stepping on puddles or getting stuck in a grassy, muddy ground. When you’re in high heels and these things happen, you not only lose your poise and bearing, you also end up messing up your precious shoe!

That’s when little known things like this Solemate comes in handy. Really you can avert potential disasters with this.

How does this work?

Discreet and easy to use, the SoleMates High Heeler™ attaches easily to most stiletto and kitten heels. By increasing the surface area on the base of the heel, it reduces the pressure on this area and prevents the heel from sinking into grass or falling into cracks!

The patented design of the SoleMates High Heeler™ is mechanically engineered to fit snugly on most heels and yet the flexible material grips securely without damaging the heel or compromising the aesthetics of the shoe.

And you know what? For $19.95? It’s definitely a good investment!

The first rotary toaster

Published by Rachel under Home Gadgets Edit This

Rotary ToasterI honestly have no idea why a toaster needs to have a rotary function. Even as I have read the the actual translation from this source , I still have no clue.  Although, I’m totally attracted to this nifty kitchen helper. I want one. And I want one in red.

Why does bread have to be in a little rotary oven again? To even the browning? Doesn’t a regular toaster do that on both sides?

Ahh, wait…I think I get it. The rotary works for buns. Of course! Buns are harder to brown evenly on a traditional oven toaster.

Alright, this is officially a cool thing to have at home.

This mushroom card reader is really cute!

Mushroom Card Reader

This cute little mushroom (in photo) is quite a familiar face in Japan.  It’s the mascot for its biggest cellphone company, the NTT Docomo.  And this is Docomodake, an SD card reader and writer.

With card readers virtually common in working with technology today, you see every type of designs of this in the market. The designs range from simple and plain to quirky and interesting.

But Docomodake here doesn’t just work as a card reader, it’s also a cellphone strap which makes the reader easier to carry around.

It also looks really cute as a cellphone charm and I think that this is actually a great idea since I am not one of those people fond of those charm thingies. But I would change my mind instantly when I see that I can also use it for something else.

Ohh, Macbook Touch. How true are rumors about your awesomeness?

Published by Rachel under Misc Edit This

MacDailyNews has the scoop on what Apple has been keeping busy with now that the hype for the iPhone 3G has already convinced about a million customers. If this rumor is true, will be seeing this thing below hitting stores sometime October…just in time for Christmas shopping!

Macbook Touch

So, what is this? According to MacDailyNews’ source:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too.

I’m not too crazy about this though. You?

Zero-Gee Ergonomic Computer Workstation

Published by Rachel under Gaming, Home Gadgets Edit This

Zero Gee Ergonomic Computer Chair

Sitting for hours in front of the computer is killing my back and I do recognize my need for a better computer chair (or may laying off the computer for a few hours!). If my money only grows on trees or I lay gold bars, I would not think twice about getting a computer chair like this one.

The concept to Zero-Gees ergonomic computer chair is that it is meant to be the all-around workstation which helps correct bad posture and alleviates discomfort brought about by working on the computer all day long. The chair is so fashioned in that you can literally lie down while drawing up your spreadsheets and documents, going online to do your business or socialize, or even playing on the computer.

This is still a design idea though and distributorship is still being worked out. But I know that when it does become available, it won’t cost pennies. A chair like this is a luxury, really. But it’s a luxury my back sorely needs.

This other little black box is something you and the earth will love!

Is this the world’s smallest working desktop computer?

Cherrypal Desktop Computer

Yes, you read it right. This is a desktop computer. And it’s only as big as a paperback. But its size belies what this tiny machine can do, which is nearly everything you’re used to doing using a regular-sized desktop.

This gadget, called the CherryPal™, was designed not only for the user’s ease and convenience, it was designed to help save the earth’s energy and be the “greenest desktop computer available“. How I love that idea!

Because of its size, the Cherrypal only uses 2 watts of electrical power. It doesn’t require too many parts and there’s no need for any installations of any operating system even when there’s plenty you can do with it — “listen to iTunes, watch videos, word processing, presentations and spreadsheets“.

All workable programs most people need are already preloaded and the upgrades and management are done ahead for you by a tech support that works round the clock. It also guarantees a risk-free computer environment as it claims to not be susceptible to viruses.

Going for $249 Cherrypal lasts up to 10 years.
